I am currently at the Center for Inquiry Leadership Conference with very interesting fellow by the name of Max Jackson. He is the current president of a similar organization at the University of Central Florida and friends with Webster Cook. The Webster Cook who "stole" the comunion wafer and Max just announced a very sad and disturbing update on the situation.

Even though it is pretty old news(2006) there are 3 signatories of the CFI "Declaration in Defense of Science and Secularism" who are part of Case Western Reserve University. They are:
-Lawrence Krauss, PhD—Prof. of Physics and Astronomy
-James W. Jordan, MD, playwright and neurology resident
and our very own
-Mano Singham, PhD, Physicist & Director, Univ. Ctr. for Innovation in Teaching and Education (UCITE)
I just thought that was worth pointing out to anyone not in the loop(like me).

I don't if anyone else has seen this, but there is a new series on A&E called Psychic Children, and it is pretty stereotypical of all psychic believer shows. A good dose of untestable claims(ie. I hear voices), anecdotal evidence and science bashing. Well, they call us "mainstream science," but I am going to assume that we are all in agreement here that there is only one type of science and the rest is pseudoscience. I'll get a link and a rant soon but for now I just wanted to share this little tidbit before I went to bed and forgot.

Last night I had the pleasure of attending the latest event by the Campus Crusade for Christ, also known by their more ninjavangelist name, CRU. The surprising bit is that this time there is no sarcasm present when I say that I had the pleasure of attending the event. From past experience CRU tends to be one of the more radical and outspoken Christian groups that I have met on campus. I’m not sure what their affiliation/relation, if any, with groups such as Inter Varsity is, but there is a noticeable difference between them.

Look no further, just find the 101 ways that the bible predicted science

"WERE SAVING SOULS HERE!!!"

Unfortunately I have been rather busy lately and have not been able to provide nearly as much content as I would like to. Now that I am about to leave Florida tomorrow :( maybe I will be able to get a story or two in before classes begin again. I have also been looking into improving the format of the forum as well as some general interface and system improvements, so be on the lookout for those. Other than that enjoy the rest of your break and I will see many of you next week.

Well guys I think it is a good idea if anyone who will be writing or blogging make a quick little bio about you and why you are here. So I'll go ahead and write mine, though Sam beat me to it.
I am an undergraduate student here at Case Western. I am a Psychology major and am considderring a second major in Bio-Chemistry. My primary area of interest is biological correlations to behavior. I hope to begin research seeking a specific biological correlate to intelligence in the near future.

This is where I will hopefully keep a personal blog that is relatively up to date with skepticism news and discussion.
